The Japanese baths are quite particular compared to Westerners, because if it is true that for us, the bathroom is usually a unique atmosphere in Japanese culture it is divided into two parts, a "dry" and another bathroom. The bathroom area is a place with a small space to sit and wash with soap, and then get into a hot bath and relax. May also allow the use of a shower. This space is usually large enough to fit two people.
The Japanese baths differ from the bathrooms Western style, which is based on shallow bath or shower, and everything is standardized under the concept that not splash water all over the bathroom. For the Japanese , the bathroom is not only a matter of cleanliness, but implies relax and to share with family.
In the modern West, a bath with this Japanese trend include the separation of environments in addition to the wash area (eg shower) and a slightly deeper tub in which to relax and forget the stress of everyday life.
